The Eagles had hoped Michael Vick's sore ribs would improve so he would be able to play in Week Six vs. his former team, the Falcons. But according to NFL.com reporter Michael Lombardi, that is not going to happen.

Lombardi reports that Vick will be the team's emergency third QB, meaning he is only eligible to play if starter Kevin Kolb and backup Mike Kafka leave the game due to injury. Kolb has started two games this season and played in much of the Week Four game, which Vick started but left after being injured at the end of the first quarter.

The way we see it

Eagles head coach Andy Reid is playing it safe with his dynamic QB, opting to sit Vick for another week to help him get back to 100 percent. After facing the Falcons, Philly takes a trip to Tennessee in Week Seven before a bye. If the Eagles can keep winning, Reid will have a tough choice to make regarding his QB depth chart between Kolb and Vick.

Fantasy Spin

Kolb has played well the past two weeks, but he is facing an improved Falcons pass defense in Week Six. Still, with weapons such as DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin at his disposal, he remains an intriguing fantasy option.
