Here's notes on the first quarter of Browns-Steelers from a Cleveland perspective.
First-quarter score: Browns 3, Steelers 0.
Positives: QB Colt McCoy has played fairly well for his first start. He made a very nice timing throw to TE Evan Moore on a third-down pass for a 19-yard gain. Even more impressively, McCoy took a big hit from ROLB James Harrison on the play. ... Browns CB Joe Haden intercepted Ben Roethlisberger deep in Cleveland territory and returned it 62 yards.
Negatives: McCoy was intercepted on his first drive by FS Ryan Clark. McCoy threw the ball into a tight window, and it appeared TE Benjamin Watson had a chance at it, but it ended as the quarterback's first career interception. ... McCoy has been sacked twice, and the Steelers are getting a great jump on plays. The Browns' pass protection will be an issue to watch in the next three quarters. ... Browns CB Sheldon Brown was flagged for pass interference on a deep pass to WR Antwaan Randle El.
Outlook: The Browns have been quite competitive thus far. Save for the pass-interference penalty, the Browns didn't allow a play of longer than nine yards. The interception is the only major mistake McCoy has made to this point, and it happened in Pittsburgh territory.
