The Broncos have signed SS Kyle McCarthy and OLB Kevin Alexander from their practice squad, giving the team increased depth on defense and increased speed on special teams. To create the roster space, RB Andre Brown and OT D'Anthony Batiste were released.
Denver is banged up on defense, with FS Brian Dawkins and OLB Robert Ayers set to be sidelined for the next few weeks with injuries. McCarthy and Alexander are both undrafted rookies who have never played in an NFL game.
The way we see it
Besides adding depth to their defense, the roster move also shows the Broncos are comfortable with Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter and Laurence Maroney as their running backs. Brown appeared in three games this season, but only carried the ball twice, contributing mainly on special teams.
