Antoine Winfield feels bad that his bookend, CB Cedric Griffin, is out for the season with a torn ACL. But Winfield isn't concerned about the Vikings covering receivers without him. Asked if it's expecting too much from rookie Chris Cook to take Griffin's spot, Winfield told PFW, "No, not at all. That's what we brought him in here for. He has great size, 6-2, weighs 215 (pounds). That's why he was drafted so high. He can be that guy." But Cook also is battling through his second knee injury of the year and might not play in Week Six against the Cowboys. That would leave the Vikings shorthanded again at corner, just as the team was in Weeks One and Two before Griffin came back the first time. Hussain Abdullah has been the team's cover safety, and Winfield says he has shown the skills to compensate when needed. "Very athletic. Very smart," Winfield said of Abdullah. "And he has a knack for being around the ball."
