The Giants signed PK Shayne Graham on Saturday after starting PK Lawrence Tynes suffered an ankle injury on Friday.
Tynes sprained his plant ankle during a kickoff in practice but walked off the field under his own power. He was added to the injury report and listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Graham, a 10-year veteran, spent the last seven seasons with the Bengals and was 23-of-28 from field-goal range in 2009.
The Giants placed rookie WR Victor Cruz (hamstring) on injured reserve to make room for Graham.
The way we see it
P Matt Dodge would handle kickoffs if Tynes can't go but would not be able to handle field-goal duties. Signing Graham could mean the Giants don't expect Tynes to be ready to go come game time, and Graham provides them a veteran for field-goal kicking. Cruz has been battling a hamstring injury after a great preseason for the Giants.
