Here's a look at a key matchup heading into Green Bay's Week Six game against Miami at Lambeau Field.
Dolphins OLT Jake Long vs. Packers right outside linebacker
Under normal circumstances, an outstanding matchup would be likely between Long, the top overall pick in the 2008 draft who has developed into one of the league's best left tackles, and Packers former first-round OLB Clay Matthews, who has been alternating quite effectively between the right side and the left side so far this season with a league-leading 8½ sacks. But nothing is normal these days with the Packers, who have been picked apart by injuries the past couple of weeks, including Matthews, who had to leave last week's game against Washington late in the third quarter with a hamstring injury that could make him iffy for this game. Both Long and Matthews are incredibly intense, and it would be a lot of fun to see these two knock each other around.
If Long, whose biggest strength is his run blocking, doesn't have to worry about Matthews, he'll obviously be a lot better off. But the combination of Brad Jones, who likely will start this Sunday's game on the right side even if Matthews is good to go; feisty undrafted rookie Frank Zombo; and Brady Poppinga, who did some good things against the Redskins last week, will certainly keep the 6-7, 317-pound Long on his toes.
