The Falcons have won four games in a row and are one of just four teams with a 4-1 record, but the team's majority owner, Arthur Blank, emphasized that it's still early in the season at the NFL owners' meeting Tuesday.
Blank said third-year head coach Mike Smith is doing a good job of keeping players from getting overconfident.
"(Smith is) keeping them focused from week-to-week," Blank told PFW. "Every coach says that, and I'm sure they all mean it, but I think in the case of Smitty, Smitty has a real sense of humility. He's a football coach and he's not thinking about the eighth game or 10th game. He's thinking about next week. He creates a sense of urgency and a sense of reality with our players as well. Because we have a good blend of young players and some veteran players, they understand that teams can go on runs.
"We're in a good place."
Atlanta will travel to face the 3-2 Eagles in Week Six.
