The Broncos will be without two key defenders for the near future after a physical Week Five loss to the Ravens.
The Denver Post reports that OLB Robert Ayers will miss at least six weeks and possibly longer after breaking his foot in the Baltimore game. Ayers has 19 tackles and 1½ sacks on the season and is one of the team's top pass rushers following the training-camp injury to Elvis Dumervil.
FS Brian Dawkins will also miss time after straining a ligament in his right knee. The 15-year vet could miss at least two games, but the report indicated the team may play it safe and sit him out until Week 10, which would mean he'd rest during the team's game vs. the 49ers in London and their bye week.
The way we see it
Denver's defense wasn't playing great when it had Ayers and Dawkins, allowing 78 points over the last three weeks. Still, the losses are major ones, especially to Ayers, who is tied for the team lead in sacks on the season.
