Vikings-Jets prediction

Has there been a "Monday Night Football" game in recent years with this much bizarre drama, replete with story lines on just about every level? Perhaps only the Brett Favre game against the Packers in Minnesota last year tops this Jets-Vikings game, but if so, not by much.

Fighting through all of the off-field stories, namely the Randy Moss trade and the Favre allegations from when he was a (you guessed it) Jets player, there will be an entertaining football game tonight. The Vikings hope that adding Moss, even in a short week of work with the team, will pay immediate dividends: Favre has another passing option, other receivers will see reduced coverage and RB Adrian Peterson should benefit. That's the hope, but the Jets counter with a fine cover man in CB Darrelle Revis, who has a history of working well against Moss.

On the other side, the Jets have a run-based attack that sets up a good play-action passing game, and one that will get WR Santonio Holmes into the lineup for the first time. Although both defenses have great talent, there could be some big offensive plays in this game, even if it doesn't reflect in the score. One key matchup will be the Vikings' defensive line trying to exploit a very good but incomplete Jets offensive line. Turnovers will be huge in this one.

Prediction: Jets 23, Vikings 17
