The Packers will decide in the coming days on starting LB Nick Barnett's roster spot for the rest of 2010.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Barnett, who injured his right wrist in the Packers' Week Four victory over the Lions, could undergo surgery now and potentially return in eight weeks, assuming his wrist heals correctly.
If that route were chosen as opposed to placing Barnett on season-ending injured reserve, the Packers would have to hold a roster spot for Barnett while they await his return.
The way we see it
Despite two losses, the Packers very much expect to make a run at the playoffs, but their injury-plagued defense could keep them from the postseason. Barnett is their leader and if they are confident he can return for a late playoff push, it may be worth holding onto the roster spot. But reports surfaced last week they are prepared to play without Barnett for the season.
