Rams WR Mark Clayton told media members after the team's Week Five game vs. the Lions that he will miss the remainder of the season due to a right knee injury. Clayton suffered the injury on a deep pass in the first quarter of the 44-6 loss. He was carted off the field and was in the locker room following the game on crutches.

Clayton had been the top target for QB Sam Bradford during the first four weeks, making 23 catches for 306 yards and two TDs. He was signed at the end of training camp after WR Donnie Avery, who was expected to be the Rams' No. 1 receiver this season, tore his ACL in the preseason.

The way we see it

Clayton and Bradford had developed a good chemistry, as the two former Oklahoma Sooners helped the Rams to two early-season wins. The job of top wideout now falls on either Laurent Robinson or Danny Amendola, though the team will rely on the strong running of Steven Jackson more than ever. It also wouldn't be a surprise to see St. Louis sign a WR.
