There were high hopes for Jets first-round pick Kyle Wilson, a fast and strong cornerback who impressed coaches in training camp with his ball skills. But so far the results have been below average in the regular season. Both on the outside and in the slot, opponents have keyed on Wilson, choosing not to take their chances against Pro Bowl CBs Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, and have been mostly successful. Through four games, Wilson saw 28 passes thrown in his direction, with 17 resulting in completions; Wilson also has been flagged for a pair of costly pass-interference penalties. The team decided to demote the rookie in favor of Drew Coleman, a more consistent player, and with Revis returning from a hamstring injury, Wilson's playing time may drop even more. According to a team insider, the Jets never wanted Wilson to be a starter, hoping he'd excel as a nickel back, but Revis' injury forced their hand.
