Eagles eying more toughness at linebacker

The Eagles appear to be making a switch at linebacker. Moise Fokou has taken the first-team SLB reps from Akeem Jordan in a move that will sacrifice speed for strength at the point of attack. The move comes a week after getting bullied against the run by the Redskins, a team that hadn't had much success on the ground previously. All signs pointed to Fokou opening the season as the starter, but he quickly lost the job to Jordan and never was able to regain it until now. Eagles sources have indicated that Fokou has practiced well, and head coach Andy Reid says he deserves the opportunity. But it's clear that the leaky run defense had to be fixed. As good in coverage as Jordan can be, he just can't win matchups consistently enough in traffic and be a force. Teams started running right at him, and it was hurting the team.
