Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno will not play in Sunday's game against the Ravens, coach Josh McDaniels announced on Friday.

The running back has missed Denver's last two contests with a hamstring injury. RBs Laurence Maroney and Correll Buckhalter have spelled Moreno, but the Broncos have not been able to get anything going on the ground, gaining a league-worst 2.2 yards per carry.

"I don't think it's the right thing to do to try to force (Moreno) to play," McDaniels said.

FB Spencer Larsen also has been ruled out with an ankle injury.

Way we see it

The Broncos have lacked a consistent running game all season but may need it now more than ever against the top-ranked Ravens pass defense.

Broncos running backs have accounted for just 44 yards during the two games Moreno has missed. Despite playing only two games, Moreno still leads the team in rushing, with 111 yards on 39 carries (2.8 avg.). If Maroney (just 29 yards on 23 carries this season) and Buckhalter can't get anything going early on, look for RB Andre Brown to get his first carries of the season.

Fantasy spin

Things won't be easy for the Broncos in Baltimore without a viable running back. Maroney and Buckhalter aren't worth picking up, and with the way the Ravens' pass "D" has looked this season, sitting red-hot QB Kyle Orton might not be a bad idea either.
