The Colts signed RB Javarris James on Thursday and released LB Tyjuan Hagler.

The Patriots had released James on Tuesday. A rookie out of Miami (Fla.), James is known 'Baby J' and is former Colts RB Edgerrin James' cousin. James spent the first four weeks of this season on the Patriots' practice squad.

Hagler has spent five seasons with the Colts and played in one game this season. He has 17 starts in his career.

The way we see it

James likely will get a chance to handle kickoff-return duties after RB Devin Moore was lost for the season. With RBs Joseph Addai and Donald Brown nicked up, James gives them another body at the RB position.
