Cardinals' top defenders really struggling

The hardly surprising decision to make feisty undrafted rookie Max Hall the new starting quarterback over disappointing free-agent addition Derek Anderson greatly overshadowed the Cardinals' major early-season defensive concerns. The defense was porous enough to trigger rumors suggesting that coordinator Billy Davis' job could be in jeopardy, but team sources don't see that happening any time soon. "He (Davis) isn't in trouble — at least this year," said one team insider. "The biggest problem has been that the high-profile playmakers (most notably DT Darnell Dockett, SS Adrian Wilson, LCB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, ROLB Joey Porter and DE Calais Campbell) just haven't been making many plays, except for Adrian in the first game." Overpursuit has been a particularly glaring problem. "That's one area where they really miss (free-agent defector) Karlos Dansby," the insider said.
