Saints CB Tracy Porter will miss 3-4 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair the lateral meniscus in his left knee.

The initial injury occurred in Week Four's game in the Louisiana Superdome as Porter was tracking Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen after the rookie scrambled out of the pocket.

Porter left following the injury but returned to action later in the game. The third-year defensive back has 17 tackles this season and picked off 49ers QB Alex Smith in Week Two for his lone interception.

Way we see it

Porter has been a playmaker for the Saints and will be tough to replace. His absence from the starting lineup will mean either shifting CB Randall Gay from the nickel spot or inserting rookie CB Patrick Robinson into the starting lineup. While Gay brings more experience, he has done well as his current spot. Starting Robinson, the team's first-round draft pick is a riskier move, but the rookie does have more upside.
