The Chargers added SS Tyrone Carter to their roster on Wednesday, releasing DE Alfonso Boone to clear space for the 11-year veteran.
Carr comes in with eight career interceptions and was an AFC Defensive Player of the Week last season after coming up with two interceptions, one for a touchdown, in a game against the Broncos. Carter was a member of the Steelers at the time, playing in place of injured S Troy Polamalu.
Boone played in the Chargers' first three games this season but was inactive last week.
The way we see it
Carter will take the roster spot of SS Steve Gregory, who has been suspended four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Carter will provide depth in the secondary.
