The Patriots released RB Javarris James from their practice squad on Tuesday.

The rookie out of Miami (Fla.) has yet to be active this season. The Patriots added RB Thomas Clayton to their 53-man roster last week. James, the cousin of RB Edgerrin James, ran for 802 yards in his freshman year at Miami.

The way we see it

With the emergence of RBs BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead and the signing of Clayton, the Patriots found James expendable.
