The Falcons waived LB Robert James on Tuesday.

Atlanta had chosen James in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. He appeared in just one game for the Falcons, seeing action on special teams in the 2009 season finale against the Buccaneers.

James had been suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
