The Titans' pass rush took a hit Monday as they announced rookie DE Derrick Morgan is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Morgan, the 16th overall pick in April's draft, had recorded 1½ sacks in four games this season. The Titans are tied for the league lead with 16 sacks through four games.

The way we see it

Morgan battled calf injuries in training camp, but showed potential when he had a chance to play. He was not a starter but the Titans play all of their ends. He's very young, and assuming the surgery goes well, he has a bright future.

The play of David Ball and Jason Babin — neither of whom was expected to be a starter has given the line a lift, and DL coach Jim Washburn is very well-regarded.
