Panthers WR Steve Smith reportedly suffered a high ankle sprain in Week Four's loss to the Saints. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the injury and said there is no timetable on his return.

Smith had two catches for 11 yards before the injury. The four-time Pro Bowler suffered a broken arm last summer. He has 13 catches for 174 yards and two TDs this season.

The way we see it

Smith is the clear-cut primary receiver for the Panthers who have already benched their opening day starter at quarterback Matt Moore. If Smith is out for an extended period of time, it could mean more playing time for Dwayne Jarrett. Behind Smith are WRs Brandon LaFell and Dante Rosario - not a whole lot of firepower for Jimmy Clausen and a team that is near the bottom of the league in passing.
