The Cardinals benched QB Derek Anderson and put in rookie QB Max Hall before halftime of Sunday's Week Four game against the Chargers.
Anderson was 7-of-14 passing for 64 yards with two interceptions, including one pick that was returned 31 yards by Chargers LB Shaun Phillips for a touchdown.
Hall finished the first half by completing 3-of-4 passes for 34 yards.
The way we see it
Anderson got the confidence from his team to win the starting job in the preseason. There was enough confidence that the Cardinals were willing to part ways with QB Matt Leinart. But it also meant that they were comfortable with the undrafted Hall. Anderson has thrown five interceptions and just three TDs this season and has yet to establish any sort of chemistry with star WR Larry Fitzgerald. Hall, a fan favorite in Phoenix, could be in the starting role for the long haul.
