The Patriots and Dolphins released their injury reports for Monday night's Week Four game.
The Patriots ruled RB Fred Taylor (toe), CB Terrence Wheatley (foot) and OL Nick Kaczur (back) out.
The Dolphins declared OG John Jerry (illness) and DE Jared Odrick (ankle) out. ILB Channing Crowder (groin) is listed as doubtful, and CB Nolan Carroll (hand) and OLT Jake Long (knee) are listed as probable.
Patriots QB Tom Brady, as usual, is probable with a "shoulder" injury.
This will be the first game Taylor has missed this season. He missed practice all week. Kaczur underwent back surgery in the preseason and, considering he is still on the active roster, could return at some point this season.
Jerry missed Week Three's game against the Jets. Crowder seemed to have suffered a setback Friday and saw a specialist, but he was on the practice field Saturday. Odrick is likely to return in Week Six after suffering an injury in Week One.
The way we see it
None of the injuries listed is a surprise. The Patriots have plenty of depth at running back. They'd prefer Taylor to be healthy, but RBs BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Sammy Morris and Danny Woodhead have all run well. Wheatley could help the depth in the secondary when he returns.
The Dolphins have played without Crowder all season, with ILBs Tim Dobbins and Bobby Carpenter splitting reps, but Crowder is the run stopper they would like to get back on the field. OG Pat McQuistan struggled when starting for Jerry in Week Three. Cory Procter and Ray Feinga are other possibilities at guard.
