Saints WR Robert Meachem isn't off to the start some envisioned for him, but QB Drew Brees said Meachem's low numbers are not an indication that he hasn't been looking to connect with the fourth-year receiver. "It's just a matter of him getting his opportunities and making the most of them and it's not that we haven't called things his way," Brees said on Sept. 29. "It just hasn't been there." After a quiet first two seasons, Meachem broke out in 2009 and some expected him to pass Devery Henderson on the depth chart this season, but toe surgery landed him on the PUP list to start training camp, and WR Lance Moore's re-emergence has further limited Meachem's targets. Brees said defenses have focused more on stopping Meachem, who gained 16 yards per catch in '09. He only has four catches through the first three games, and the deep threat's longest reception is for 26 yards.
