The Panthers' offensive line has struggled to clear running lanes for RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart in the early going, and the unit also has not been getting the job done in pass protection. The return of ORT Jeff Otah, however, could provide a bit of a boost. Otah is taking longer than some expected to return from a setback in his recovery from an Aug. 4 left knee scope, but we hear the team is not displeased with how he's handling the rehab. He has apparently stayed in decent shape and has been diligent when it comes to working on strengthening the knee. Otah, who started 25 games in his first two seasons, hasn't been able to practice this season and some don't expect him to return until the week after Carolina's bye in Week Six. Geoff Schwartz is filling in at right tackle and is doing a serviceable job, although he doesn't have the natural strength or power that Otah does.
