Browns QB Jake Delhomme was to return to practice Thursday on a limited basis, head coach Eric Mangini said Thursday morning.

Mangini said Delhomme, who has missed the past two games with an ankle injury, will return as the Browns' starter when he is healthy. The Browns host the Bengals on Sunday.

"Whenever he's ready to start, he'll start," Mangini said, according to the club.

Delhomme suffered the injury in the Browns' season-opening loss at Tampa Bay. He completed 20-of-37 passes for 227 yards with one TD and two interceptions in Week One. Seneca Wallace, who has started the past two games, has completed 34-of-55 passes for 370 yards with two TDs and one interception.

The way we see it

Delhomme's return to practice is a positive, and his continued status as the starter is no surprise. He had missed the past seven practices with the injury. Delhomme had a very good preseason and had some good moments in the opener, but he also threw two interceptions.
