Even if WR Steve Breaston is sidelined only one game after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee — which is what we hear the Cardinals are hoping for, despite some pretty long odds — there is no denying that he will be sorely missed. “He’s just made himself into an excellent receiver,” one team insider said of Breaston, who was off to an excellent start before getting hurt. “You can see why they thought they could trade Anquan Boldin; they’re a more dynamic offense with Breaston in the No. 2 role. In my mind, he should probably be the next guy in line for a contract extension.” Word is it’s more likely Breaston will miss two games before the team’s bye week on Oct. 17 and then play at Seattle on Oct. 24. Team insiders tell us that No. 3 WR Early Doucet, who is on the mend from hernia surgery, is also most likely to return to action in the Seattle game.
