Here's a look at how the Vikings' first-year players fared in the Week Three win over the Lions:
CB Chris Cook (second round): Cook made his season debut Sunday after missing the first two games because of a knee injury. The Vikings were thrilled to have him and Cedric Griffin back in the lineup, affording them far more defensive flexibility in the secondary. The coaches wasted no time putting Cook on Lions WR Calvin Johnson at times, albeit with safety help in most cases. That said, Cook used his 6-2, 212-pound frame to match up with the 6-foot-5 Johnson and helped hold him to six receptions for 56 yards. A nice debut, for sure.
RB Toby Gerhart (second round): It was not a great game for Gerhart, who carried the ball three times for 12 yards and fumbled the third carry after gaining eight yards. The lost fumble took away a field-goal opportunity for his team. Gerhart also was involved in one of Brett Favre's two interceptions. Favre wanted to throw a screen to Gerhart, but Lions DT Corey Williams stepped in and got the pick. Tough week. The coaches still want to keep working Gerhart in, though.
DE Everson Griffen (fourth round): Inactive in Week Three.
OG Chris DeGeare (fifth round): Saw his first NFL game action on Sunday, mostly on special teams.
QB Joe Webb (sixth round): Inactive in Week Three.
