Chargers ORG Louis Vasquez will not need surgery on his injured knee but may miss a game or two, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Vasquez was hurt in the first quarter of the team's Week Three game vs. the Seahawks and was replaced by Tyronne Green, who will likely start at right guard for the team this week vs. the Cardinals.

The newspaper also reported that RB Ryan Mathews went through an extensive workout on Monday and was pain-free, indicating his ankle sprain is feeling better. He is expected to reutrn to practice this week. Mathews missed the Seattle game, which the Chargers lost 27-20.

The way we see it

Expected to run away with the AFC West, the Chargers are 1-2 and looking up at the undefeated Chiefs. Having a healthy roster may help turn that around, so the fact that Vasquez's injury isn't as serious as initially thought and that No. 1 RB Mathews can return to practice are both big positives for a struggling San Diego team.
