The Cardinals' struggling passing game got bad news Tuesday as WR Steve Breaston reportedly underwent surgery for a torn meniscus and is expected to miss a "couple of games."
Mike Jurecki of XTRA Sports 910 in Arizona reported the surgery. Breaston leads the Cardinals with 14 catches for 183 yards. WR Early Doucet is recovering from groin surgery, and WR Larry Fitzgerald has had a slow start to the season.
The way we see it
Breaston has had health issues but has been able to play through them until now. Fitzgerald has not been connecting well with QB Derek Anderson. The next guys in line are both undrafted rookies, Stephen Williams and Max Komar. This is not a good situation for an offense that has not looked good at all, as Breaston had been the best weapon through the air. With RB Beanie Wells back, the Cardinals may go to the ground a lot more often this Sunday against the Chargers.
