The Panthers released DT Louis Leonard on Tuesday. Leonard has been injury-plagued and recorded just two tackles in two games this season.
Leonard was a favorite to win the starting job when he entered training camp but never made it into the rotation. After playing in 16 games with four starts in 2008 with the Browns, Leonard played in just two games last season before breaking his left ankle.
Leonard battled a sore knee in training camp and missed the Week Two game against the Bucs with an elbow injury.
The way we see it
Leonard was brought in to help the defensive tackle depth but did not start even though the Panthers lack talent there. With all his injuries, Leonard was never able to play to his potential.
