A day after releasing their opening day starting QB Trent Edwards, the Bills replaced him on the roster by signing QB Levi Brown. Originally their seventh-round pick out of Troy, Brown was cut at the end of training camp despite a solid preseason. He refused a spot on the team's practice squad, but appears to be happy to return as their No. 3 QB.
The way we see it
In the Pro Football Weekly 2010 Draft Preview, analyst Nolan Nawrocki said of Brown: "Has intriguing mental makeup to develop as a backup and could blossom under tutelage of an experienced offensive mind capable of harnessing his mechanics." Bills coach Chan Gailey fits that profile well, and the team hopes the new QB can develop behind Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Brohm.
