The Vikings' offensive, defensive and special-teams players of the week in their 24-10 win over the Lions in Week Three:
Who else? While the passing game is only starting to work out its kinks, RB Adrian Peterson is in midseason form. And he clearly is ready and willing to carry the team on his back until Brett Favre and the receivers make even more strides. Peterson rushed for 160 yards and two TDs, one of which covered 80 yards for a career long. That TD deep-sixed the Lions for good.
CB Antoine Winfield was in on nine tackles — all within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage — and intercepted Lions QB Shaun Hill in the endzone to officially seal the victory. Winfield, the old pro, is still playing at a high level, and it comes at a time when the Vikings’ secondary is in a bit of flux.
P Chris Kluwe was a key field-position weapon all game. He knocked four of his five punts inside the Lions’ 20-yard line, and two of them landed inside the 10. Kluwe’s wobbly high-hanger was trouble for Lions PR Stefan Logan, who fumbled the attempt, which the Vikings recovered and converted for a TD on the next play. Kluwe averaged 43.2 yards on his five punts and held on four successful tries — three extra points and one field goal.
