Kevin Kolb was supposed to be the guy to keep the Eagles' offense moving with Donovan McNabb off to Washington. Instead, Michael Vick has been that man.
After being named the team's permanent starter earlier in the week, Vick had his second consecutive scintillating start on Sunday, torching the Jaguars for 291 yards passing and three TDs. For good measure, he added 30 yards and a score on the ground. On the season, he is averaging 250 passing yards, two TDs and no interceptions through three contests and has a passer rating of 110.2. Not bad for a guy few thought would ever contribute in the NFL again.
From a fantasy perspective, Vick's presence has been terrific for WRs DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. Jackson is back to be a big-play machine, gaining 24.5 yards per reception and scoring each of the past two weeks. Maclin, meanwhile, is tied for league lead in TD catches with four. Really, only TE Brent Celek has been negatively impacted by Vick's presence, as he isn't as big a part of the passing game as he used to be.
Granted, Vick's two starts have come against horrible secondaries in Detroit and Jacksonville, but it's not like he's totally going to tank against better competition. Vick is playing at a high enough level right now that unless you own one of the top half-dozen QBs, he belongs in your starting lineup.
