Browns head coach Eric Mangini said Monday he will not bench CB Eric Wright, who was beaten for three TD passes Sunday by Ravens WR Anquan Boldin in a 24-17 Cleveland loss, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer and the Akron Beacon-Journal reported.
Wright, 25, has started 48-of-49 games in his four years with the Browns, who drafted him in the second round in 2007.
"I didn't feel like myself today." Wright said after the Browns loss Sunday, according to The Plain Dealer. "I didn't play up to my abilities. I had a horrible day, and I let my team down."
The way we see it
That Wright will keep his starting job is not a surprise. The Browns' secondary had allowed just two TD passes before Sunday, and none were allowed by Wright. Rookie CB Joe Haden, who would be the most likely replacement for Wright were he to ever be benched, surrendered the game-winning TD pass in Week One.
