One of the most hyped quarterbacks this offseason, Joe Flacco was looking like a fantasy bust through two weeks. Then, Anquan Boldin helped him save face Sunday.
Just when owners were ready to throw in the towel on Flacco after his four-interception performance at Cincinnati, he won owners back against the Browns, thanks mainly to Boldin. The third-year signalcaller threw for 262 yards and three TDs in Sunday's win, with all three of his scoring tosses going to Boldin.
While one game won't be enough for Flacco's owners to feel fully comfortable in their investment, especially with the Steelers on the schedule this week, it should at least calm them down for the time being. Flacco has the arm and the receiving weapons to be a star. Now all he has to do is improve his decision making.
As for Boldin, who had 8-142-3 receiving on Sunday, he looks very comfortable in Baltimore. Just the kind of all-around wideout the Ravens desperately needed, he has clearly surpassed Derrick Mason as the team's No. 1 WR. For fantasy purposes, he's an every-week start who obviously has huge upside.
Flacco hasn't proven to be the true No. 1 fantasy QB that many were expecting just yet, but if Sunday is any indication, it could be coming soon. He's well worth keeping in lineups, even against tough competition.
