Lions rookie RB Jahvid Best suffered a toe injury in the third quarter of the Lions' Week Three game vs. the Vikings. He did not return to the game following the injury.
Best scored two touchdowns in each of the Lions' first two games, and ran seven times for 26 yards in Minnesota. He also caught two passes for 13 yards.
Maurice Morris came in for Best, and was stuffed on a 3rd-and-2. Two plays later, the Vikings' Adrian Peterson ripped off an 80-yard TD run, which shifted momentum to Minnesota.
The way we see it
Coach Jim Schwartz was wise to rest his rookie after he suffered the injury. Best's long-term health is more important than a Week Three game.
