Dolphins starters ILB Channing Crowder and ORG John Jerry are both inactive for Sunday night's game against the Jets.
Crowder, who has been battling a groin injury since the preseason, finally returned to practice this week but will not make his debut against the Jets. Jerry, the rookie who has started at right guard the first two weeks, was out of practice with an illness this week and will miss the Sunday nighter.
QB Tyler Thigpen is the No. 3 emergency QB on the inactive list while veteran Chad Pennington is the backup. Thigpen was the backup in Week Two.
OG Pat McQuistan, the Dolphins acquired from the Cowboys late in the preseason, will start for Jerry. ILBs Tim Dobbins and Bobby Carpenter will continue filling the void left by Crowder's injury.
Other inactives for the Dolphins include WR Marlon Moore and OLB Ikaika Alama-Francis. The Jets are without CB Darrelle Revis and WR Braylon Edwards will be benched for the first quarter. Former Dolphin WR Patrick Turner is active for the Jets.
The way we see it
The Dolphins' defense has played extremely well without Crowder and Alama-Francis through two games and Carpenter has been a big revelation for them at the ILB position. They have yet to play without Jerry and the interior of their O-line already has question marks. McQuistan played in all 16 games with the Cowboys the last two seasons but never started.
