Here's some brief thoughts on the first quarter of Browns-Ravens, with an emphasis on Cleveland's performance:

First-quarter score: Ravens 7, Browns 3

Positives: The Browns' offense put together a 12-play, 57-yard drive taking 6:36 off the clock that ended in PK Phil Dawson's 38-yard field goal. RB Peyton Hillis, starting in place of Jerome Harrison, rushed five times for 23 yards. He had success running up the middle and also had a 12-yard run off the right side.

Negatives: After forcing the Browns to punt on Baltimore's first drive, the Ravens marched 85 yards in 10 plays in 4:45, with QB Joe Flacco's eight-yard TD pass to Anquan Boldin produciing Baltimore's first points. RB Ray Rice racked up 29 yards on three carries on the drive, highlighted by a 25-yard run off the left side on a delay. Flacco had no shortage of open receivers on the drive and usually had the time he needed when he dropped back to pass. CB Eric Wright had his problems covering Boldin.

Outlook: The Browns' offense did its part in the first quarter, but the defense needs to step up. The problems against the run and pass on the second drive were troubling.
