If you want to keep an eye on a player who could give the Redskins' offense a boost, it could be RB Keiland Williams. Although Clinton Portis remains the starter and Williams is relegated for now to a backup and third-down role, we hear that Portis does not have an ironclad hold on the job this season. If the Redskins continue to struggle running the ball, head coach Mike Shanahan could turn to Williams in the same way he did to previously unknown RBs Terrell Davis, Mike Anderson and Olandis Gary in Denver. Williams has outlasted most of his competition in Washington, with Willie Parker and Larry Johnson getting released and Ryan Torain sitting on the practice squad. Shanahan has praised Williams' intelligence, but our sources like his hands and pass-protection skills, along with carrying his weight well. Look for Williams to get more opportunities at some point.
