The Cowboys have released FB Deon Anderson. The fourth-year player had been with Dallas his entire career, compiling 70 total yards and one touchdown in 39 games.
TE Scott Chandler was promoted from the team's practice squad to take Anderson's place. The former Iowa standout has played in just one game, a 2007 contest, when he was with the Chargers.
The way we see it
The emergence of rookie FB Chris Gronkowski ultimately led to Anderson's departure. The rookie caught three passes for 13 yards and a touchdown last week against the Bears, while Anderson was primarily a blocking fullback.
Chandler is expected to be an active third tight end for the Cowboys.
