Despite his early errant snap that led to a safety in the Week Two loss to the Saints, we hear the 49ers are seriously thinking about sticking with David Baas as their starting center even after Eric Heitmann is fully recovered from his broken leg. "(Head coach Mike) Singletary likes his offensive linemen big, and Baas is (20) pounds heavier than Heitmann, as well as being one of the strongest guys on the team," one team insider said. "He's also much more naturally athletic than Heitmann, and with the way he can pull, it gives the team more flexibility in the run game." At this stage of his career, Heitmann's major attribute is his head more than his body, as he is widely considered the smartest player on the team. "But Baas is real smart, too," the insider said. Also on the O-line front, there are some observers who believe Adam Snyder might be an upgrade at right guard over Chilo Rachal.
