Even though the Packers remain steadfast in their allegiance to the gimpy Chad Clifton, it's beginning to look like first-round draft pick Bryan Bulaga could be settling in as the team's starting left tackle sooner than later. Daily team observers tell us the knee soreness that made Clifton iffy for the Bears' game in Week Three was a red flag that nobody really saw coming. Clifton saw much more practice time than normal in training camp and showed no apparent signs of being at less than full strength. But in the Packers' first two games against the Eagles and Bills, the 34-year-old Clifton went from bad to worse before being replaced by Bulaga. Considering Clifton's recent injury history — he missed four games last season and was forced out of four others, including the wild-card loss to Arizona — there's strong reason to believe his availability could be very touch-and-go as the season progresses.
