The Jaguars signed 38-year old QB Todd Bouman last week to replace backup QB Luke McCown, who was lost for the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee in Week Two. Bouman had been out of the NFL since being cut by the Jaguars last September, but he has been in Jaguars' training camp the past two years. More talented signalcallers such as Patrick Ramsey and Chris Simms were available, but the club felt more comfortable bringing in Bouman, who says he is "really familiar with 90 percent of the offense," instead of a guy that would have to come in and play catch-up. The way we hear it, the move signals that the Jaguars will only go as far as QB David Garrard takes them this season. Bouman gives the Jaguars a veteran who knows the offense, but he isn't likely to lead the team to victories if Garrard gets injured.
