The Texans announced the signing of OT Ephraim Salaam on Wednesday. Salaam's signing comes one day after Duane Brown was suspended for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Salaam likely will back up Rashad Butler, who will start in Brown's place Sunday vs. Dallas.
Salaam, 34, made 30 starts at left tackle for Houston from 2006-07. He appeared in 13 games with Houston as a reserve in '08. He played five games with Detroit in 2009. The Lions released him on Dec. 7, 2009, and the Texans signed him 15 days later. He did not appear in a game with Houston last season.
The way we see it
Butler, a five-year veteran, is making his first career start. "We're expecting Butler to do his job and the people around him to help him do his job," head coach Gary Kubiak said Wednesday.
Obviously, whether Butler can contain star Cowboys ROLB DeMarcus Ware is a major concern.
