With RB Reggie Bush expected to miss up to six weeks recovering from a broken leg, the Saints turned to a familiar face to add depth to their backfield Wednesday.
New Orleans re-signed Ladell Betts, who was cut by the team after the preseason. Betts, a ninth-year veteran, is returning from a left knee injury that limited him to playing in 10 games last season.
The Saints waived RB DeShawn Wynn to clear a roster spot for Betts.
The way we see it
Betts will be Pierre Thomas' top backup against Atlanta on Sunday and he should get a handful of touches, but he probably will be used sparingly, or be released, when Bush returns.
