The Ravens released S Ken Hamlin, who was brought in with the idea of being insurance for the injured Ed Reed.

Hamlin had the opportunity to earn a starting job but couldn't beat out Tom Zbikowski, who has done a nice job as a starter through two games.

To take Hamlin's spot on the roster, the Ravens activated CB Cary Williams, who had been suspended.

The way we see it

The handwriting was on the wall when Hamlin couldn't win a starting job. Cowboys officials saw a noticeable drop-off in his play the previous two seasons, which led to his release in Dallas.
