The NFL announced Wednesday that Packers OLB Clay Matthews was named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week for games played the second week of the 2010 season. Matthews was a relentless force in Green Bay's 34-7 win over Buffalo in the team's home opener, registering five tackles (four for loss) and three sacks.
Matthews, who also had three sacks in Week One, is the first player in Packers history to record three sacks in back-to-back games.
The NFC Offensive Player of the Week was Falcons RB Jason Snelling. The NFC Special Teams Player of the Week was Saints PK Garrett Hartley.
