Tom Brady knows firsthand how tough it is to come back from a torn ACL, but he has no doubt that Patriots RB Kevin Faulk can do the same thing.

"Kevin will come back from it. He’s come back from everything in his life," Brady said Wednesday. "Kevin’s a fighter. He’s a warrior. It’s just about hard work, that’s all it is. Kev will do that."

Faulk suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's loss to the Jets and told the media Wednesday that he will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season. Faulk will have surgery to repair the tear, but it is not known when.

Brady said Faulk's loss will be felt by the team considering all the roles he filled.

"You could [depend on him]," Brady said. "As a quarterback, you’re looking for the guys that you can trust. That’s what Kevin has always done. When you call Kevin’s number, he’s open. He catches the ball. He makes a play. He makes a first down, or he gets the ball in the end zone in the most critical situations."

"Other people are going to have to fill in for that role and it may provide other opportunities for guys who have not been in that role to step in there and prove what they can do."

Head coach Bill Belichick called Faulk a "special" player who "did a lot of things for us on and off the field." The coach added that he considers himself lucky to have coached Faulk.

"What's there not to like about Kevin Faulk?" Belichick asked.

The way we see it

Although Faulk was asked about retirement, he said Wednesday he will rehabilitate very hard and do his best to come back next season.
